NuVasive, a medical device manufacturer, has announced a voluntary recall of the Precice Stryde Transport System, Precice Plate Transport System, and the Precice Bone Transport System.
Since the devices under this recall are all made of stainless steel, they have all been placed on a temporary hold.
It is reported that the issue may cause pain and/or a bony abnormality at the interface between the telescoping nail segments. According to doctors, the bony abnormalities appear as small erosions on the inner bone around that segment of the nails.
The current recall does not impact the titanium Precice internal lengthening nail systms.
NuVasive states that patients who already have the stainless steel implants should continue their treatments as planned, but doctors should monitor your progress throughout the treatment and healing period.
NuVasive notes that it’s taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of their patients, but some people have already been injured – and more are at risk of further surgery or injury.
