Best Buy recalled nearly 1 million pressure cookers and separate inner pots on October 26, 2023 after 17 burn injuries were reported. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Insignia pressure cookers have incorrect volume markings on the inner pot, which can cause the pot to be overfilled and hot food and liquids to be ejected and burn consumers when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized. Best Buy has received 31 reports of contents being expelled under pressure, including 17 reports of burn injuries.
The recall involves Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers with model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9, and inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9, sold separately as replacements. Best Buy sold these products from at stores nationwide and online from October 2017 through June 2023. Those who own these recalled devices should stop using them immediately.
