My name is John Sheehan. I’m the managing attorney of the Los Angeles office of the Barnes Firm. I went to Mc George School of Law, University of the Pacific in Sacramento, California. Graduated 1987. I was born in the Buffalo metropolitan area, moved to California after college, attended law school, and then returned in 1997. Joined the firm in 2003, proposed the California expansion, and moved here in 2014 to open the Los Angeles office.

Well, my father was a mailman, a son of a mail man, and he was uh also had a second job at a warehouse. And so he convinced me that going to school and working with my brain rather than with my back would be a good idea.

I don’t quit. I approach it like athletics in in a way that you have to be determined and focused. You have to relax while you concentrate. You can’t be deterred by the opposition. They’ll always tell you that you’re going to lose. They’ll always point out the weaknesses in your case, and it’s up to you to keep going forward.

I’m coming up against multibillion dollar corporations. I just settled one with a company that’s worth $32 billion. I think they outweigh us on the field of battle. I am definitely David, and they are definitely a Goliath. And I think that’s part of the allure of what we do. The reason I’ve enjoyed my practice here is because we’ll go the distance. You have to have confidence in your capacity to bring it home. And if you start with the concept that this has got to be a win for your client, then it’ll be a win for your firm and a win for your family. So, you have three opportunities to win.
