I obtained my B.A. from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, Magna Cum Laude. While attending SUNY at Buffalo, I was the St. Joseph Collegiate Institute Varsity Rowing Coach and an Oarsman with the West Side Rowing Club. My J.D. was earned from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. While attending Law School, I was also the St. Joseph Collegiate Institute Assistant Varsity Football Coach.
My career as a lawyer began as a prosecutor in the Erie County District Attorney’s office. My position as an Assistant District Attorney provided me with the opportunity to seek justice on behalf of victims of crimes in our community. I discovered that my love for trying cases was exceeded only by my passion for helping people during a difficult time in their lives.
Upon leaving the District Attorney’s office, I concluded that the only area of practice which would allow me to pursue both my love of trial work and my desire to help others was in the field of personal injury law. I’ve spent nearly two decades helping people who have been injured, starting in 2003 when I joined Cellino & Barnes and now in my current position at The Barnes Firm.
In addition to my career as a personal injury attorney, I am extremely active on a number of charitable and not-for-profit boards in our community. I am the former President of Amherst Youth Hockey, a former President of the Ronald McDonald House, and was on the St. Benedicts Catholic Church Parish Council. And, I currently serve on the Board of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo and I am also the Vice President of the Board of West Buffalo Charter School.
