One of the things about determining the value of the case early on that’s difficult is we don’t know for sure how much treatment you’re going to need. If you’re going to miss one week of work, if you’re going to miss a month of work, if you’re going to only have to treat for a couple months, if you’re going to treat for a few months and that treatment doesn’t work and you end up having some type of surgery and then physical therapy after that surgery. And so until we know for sure what your actual damages are, it’s hard for us to put a value on the claim.

That’s one of the reasons why we let people know upfront that we don’t want to try to give you a specific dollar amount about your claim. Because of that fact, I always recommend to people try to carry as much liability insurance as you can afford. But more importantly, make sure your uninsured motors coverage is as high as what your liability insurance is. So, if you do have the unfortunate event of being involved in an accident with someone who doesn’t have insurance or has a minimum policy, you have that extra coverage should it be necessary to fully compensate you for your accident.
