My name is Richard Mackie, and I’m a trial attorney at the Barnes Firm. I was actually born in California, lived most of my life out in New York, and then came back for law school and have been here ever since. I attended law school at the California Western School of Law, graduated Magnaum Lai in philosophy. I’m a part of the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles. I’m licensed to practice in California, New York, and Washington DC. I’ve been practicing since 2017.

I exclusively do personal injury, mostly car crashes and premises liability—slip and fall, trip and fall things—but a lot of things involving the spine. I started a practice trial group called Practice Trial San Diego, which helps attorneys get on their feet and, uh, actually practice trial mechanics rather than just going to seminars. I got into law because I don’t like bullies. I like to stand up for people that can’t stand up for themselves. I find the most rewarding thing in my career is helping people when they come to me broken. I like it when we’re able to help fix that and they leave all in one and together and happy. I actually care. I really care about each person individually. I want to help them get their life back on track. Each one is different, but when we get to touch someone’s life, it’s really huge for me. Somebody should call the Barnes Firm ‘cuz we really care, and we have all the resources of a big firm but the touches of a small firm.
