Three Killed and Seven Injured in 10 Freeway Crash

Whitewater, CA – A significant crash on the 10 Freeway in Riverside County on Sunday, May 14, 2023, around 7:30 a.m. resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, including two young girls, and left seven others injured.

According to California Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old man was driving a black 2022 Tesla Model 3 in the eastbound direction of the 10 Freeway. Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man was operating a red 2001 Chevrolet Suburban in the same direction when the vehicles collided. As a result of the collision, the Suburban driver lost control and crashed into the center divider, causing the vehicle to overturn. Six passengers were ejected from the vehicle, while a seventh was partially ejected. Tragically, a 10-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and a 31-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other passengers, a 3-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl, an 11-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy, suffered severe injuries and were airlifted to the hospital. The driver of the Suburban sustained moderate injuries, while a 41-year-old passenger had minor injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
