Three Injuries and One Fatality Reported In Wrong-Way Collision

East Hollywood, CA – On the early morning of Monday, May 8, 2023, a tragic accident occurred on the 101 Freeway in East Hollywood. At approximately 4 a.m., a red Prius was observed traveling at approximately 80 mph in the wrong direction on the southbound side of the highway near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit. The California Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle sideswiped a sedan before crashing into a pickup truck, causing both cars to burst into flames.

The suspected wrong-way driver was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while one person was taken to the hospital and two others suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
