I am a New Yorker, through and through! I attended Baruch College in New York City before going to Brooklyn Law School in Downtown Brooklyn, so you know I am “New York Tough”! I also managed to pick-up those coveted New York Street-Smarts along the way…
Prior to dedicating my career to helping people, I worked for one of the largest motor-vehicle insurance carriers in the country. Having been a part of the inner workings of a major insurance company, I learned exactly what is deemed valuable, or invaluable, in cases and their strategies for defending cases. This experience has helped me become keen to the details that leave insurance companies exposed, and now as a representative at The Barnes Firm, I am fluent in finding the defense’s vulnerabilities.
Over the course of my career, I have led numerous trials on behalf of my clients and taken over a dozen jury verdicts. My trial skills have been noticed by peers and judges alike – I have been hand-picked and received personal invitations from judges to speak at court seminars.
As a husband, a father, and a lifelong New Yorker, my work in my community is as important to me as any other part of my life. Protecting my clients, providing guidance through a difficult time, and fighting for them has been the most fulfilling aspect of my career.
“You cannot see the forest for the trees!” Our life is made up of SO many moving parts and it is always important to look at the big picture. Sometimes we make important decisions based on impulses and emotions – but it is always important to take a moment, take a step back, and assess how an instant decision can impact all the other moving parts in our lives. Sometimes an impulsive or emotional decision can give short term gratification but can have long term effects on a part of your life you never expected.
I am secretly a great photographer! I’ve never been the type of person to remember to take pictures. I guess I am always so caught up in “living in the moment” that the thought of pausing for a pic doesn’t cross my mind. Occasionally, however, I will have my phone in hand and when inspiration strikes I’ll snap some artsy pics of my family or my surroundings. As the Most Interesting Man in the World would say: “I don’t always take pictures, but when I do, they are fantastic!”
“It takes 20 years to build a good reputation, and only 5 minutes to ruin it.” This advice rings true in everything I do. It explains that we must put integrity, honestly and hard work into everything we do, always. That is what it takes to earn a good reputation. However, the minute we turn our backs on good values, it instantly shows. It is not enough to be a good person sometimes – we have to try be our best all the time.
Montauk, by far! Only hours from our busy lives, when you are in Montauk it feels like you are a world away. It is a secluded and charming town, with all my favorite pastimes – sun, beaches, and local restaurants. It is also packed with some amazing history. Truly the best weekend vacation getaway!
Monopoly, monopoly, monopoly. Talk about a game that teaches kids about the importance of finances at a young age! I think it was a great introduction to financial education in my own life. But it wasn’t my favorite because it was educational – it was my favorite because games took so long. My family and I would have games that lasted for hours or even days (we would pause before bed, and pick up after work/school), and it’s those countless hours that we spent together that I would not have traded for anything else in the world.
