National City, CA – The driver of a Toyota Scion was struck and killed around 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022. The driver was changing a flat tire in the center median on eastbound State Route 54, east of Highland Ave when he was hit by a Mazda Sedan.
The driver was transported to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries. California Highway Patrol says the cause of the collision is under investigation.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old, Dave Post of San Diego. Post was a member of the San Diego Silverbacks, a semi-professional Football League team.
