Over 16 People Injured in Barclays Center Stampede
New York, NY – A stampede broke out on Sunday, May 29, 2022, just after midnight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
According to New York Police Department, a crowd was leaving the arena after a boxing match when loud bangs, which sounded like gun shots, were heard. Many people in the crowd began to run for safety, causing a stampede. Over 16 people were injured and at least 10 people were taken to the hospital.
NYPD confirmed no shots were fired at the event. The noise was attributed to a “sound disturbance” outside the arena.
Crowd Surge Accidents
Unfortunately, crowd surges can lead to catastrophic injuries. In 2021, eight people died and hundreds were injured at the Astroworld Festival in Houston. When people are packed closely together, there is always a risk for a crowd surge. Crowd management and safety need to be a top priority for event organizers.
At The Barnes Firm, our team of attorneys are investigating the stampede at Barclays Center so that we get the best result possible for the multiple people we represent who were injured at this event. This includes investigating
