Charges are pending after an accident on the 2700 block of Niagara Street on Wednesday afternoon. A Niagara Falls Crash Management Team said a dump truck carrying construction debris swerved to avoid a vehicle turning at 27th Street. In the process, the dump truck driver lost control of the vehicle and it flipped on its side, officials said.
The 40-year-old driver was partially ejected from the dump truck, and extricated by Niagara Falls firefighters. Officials say the passenger, a 44-year-old man, was able to get out of the truck himself, and was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for injuries, including shoulder pain.
The Crash Management Team is leading the crash investigation.
First responders say the accident caused the driver to partially eject from the dump truck, pinning him underneath. He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Erie County Medical Center for several injuries, including those to his legs and head.
