Thruway Worker Killed After Tractor-Trailer Accident

Rochester, NY – One thruway worker was killed and another suffered serious injuries after being struck by a tractor-trailer on I-90 East. The accident occurred Thursday, May 9, 2024, around 12:30 p.m. According to New York State Police, the tractor-trailer driven by 64-year-old Thomas Lis, struck two workers in a work zone. One worker, 62-year-old Vincent Giammarva of Leroy, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other worker, Mark Vera of Scottsville, was transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
