New Castle, NY – A teenage driver without a license caused a serious accident in Westchester County on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, injuring at least nine people. The crash happened on Lake Road, just after 2 p.m.
The teenage driver was behind the wheel of a Honda Accord with three passengers when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve, drifting into oncoming traffic, and colliding head-on with a school bus from the Yorktown Central School District. All four people in the sedan were transported to Westchester Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, while those on the bus were also hospitalized but expected to recover. The cause of the accident remains unknown, and the road where it occurred was closed for several hours before being reopened.
