5 Fatalities Reported After Helicopter Crashes Near San Diego

San Diego, CA – A U.S. Marines helicopter crashed, killing 5 onboard, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter was on a training mission at Creech Air Force Base in Las Vegas and crashed while returning to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego. 

The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter has been involved in several deadly incidents prior to this crash. In 2018, a Super Stallion crashed near El Centro, killing four Marines. The accident remains under investigation.
